"You're life is never going to be the same."
"Life as you knew it is over."
"You'll never sleep again."
Those are many of the things I had heard/was told before Grayson was born. Slight exaggerations? NOPE! Completely true. Not to say that I didn't believe people when they told me these things, I did! However it's just hard to imagine unless you're actually living and experiencing it. BUT, it's not a bad thing- although it may sound that way. Life is just totally, 100% different than it used to be.
I'm a girl who LOVES her sleep! That has probably been the hardest adjustment for me. I'm living on 2 hours here, 3 hours there, and occasionally 4-5 hours at one time if I'm lucky (and boy does that feel good if I get it). I didn't think I'd be able to get used to that or function well, but I am getting by and learning to live constantly sleep deprived. It's not as bad as I thought either. It's not great. But it's not awful.
This is what makes it TOTALLY WORTH IT-
Grayson is now 1 month old! I can hardly believe it. My precious little baby is getting bigger so fast. We just had his 1 month pictures take and they turned out so cute, I'll post some when I get them. (We've gone to JCPenny for them, and I've been pleasantly surprised at how well they turn out and how much I like them.) Here are some 1 month pics that I've take myself. I'm not a photographer like my amazing sis-in-law Julie, but that's ok. I think he looks so cute no matter what! (the captions are underneath the pictures, I know everyone does it different)
"I didn't do it Mom!"
"Hmmm, what next?"
"So tired, but I won't sleep, no way! Gotta stay awake as long as possible."
Remember my last post about how he always sleeps with his hand up? Well here's some more proof. I think it just adorable.
So... 1 month stats... I know everyone does this, but I really can't think of what he can do at 1 month. Does that make me a bad mom? Besides the normal- eat, sleep, poop, burp... and smile! He does smile :) He first smiled at 1 week. I know it wasn't on purpose, but he did it nonetheless, and he's smiled many times since then. And yesterday when I was talking to him, he smiled. I think that may have been the first "on purpose" smile. It was amazing. He also is good at holding his head up for short periods. When he is really awake he likes to hold his head up and just look around and around.
Grayson had his first big trip this last weekend. We drove up to Morehead and stayed with my sister-in-law, Jennilyn's parents and went to the annual Cave Run Storytelling Festival. Adam, Jennilyn, Jackson, and Drew drove up too. (They are the ones who invited us.) Josh and I went last year as well. It is a really fun weekend. Storytellers come from all different places and tell stories which are for the most part quite entertaining. There are sessions Friday and Saturday. It was so nice and pretty outside. All in all, it was a great weekend. Here is a family picture of us there.
I'll end with a few more pictures and a *video.
"I will sleep if you are holding me. However, if you put me down, I promptly wake up and start screaming."
I love my little man
*video will likely bore you unless you are totally in love with little Gray like I am
